Let's Capture Our Memories: "Sketch This Out!" Sketch #56

Good morning, everyone! Phew! Two posts in two days!! I've been scrapping up a storm lately, but definitely enjoying every moment of it. In all the chaos of my life as a mom of a five-year old and a three-month old, scrapbooking always still brings a calming effect over me - when I go into my scrapcave and smell all those wonderful scrappy supplies, I just think to myself, "Am I ever lucky!" I know a lot of you know exactly what I'm talking about! ;)

So, today, I'm here to reveal a layout I recently did for the Let's Capture Our Memories' "Sketch This Out!" feature. Becky Fleck over at PageMaps gave LCOM the OK to use one of her sketches and Isabelle asked us to create with the yummy American Crafts Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm collection. Here they are:

Don't you just love that collection? Definitely girly, yes, but could definitely be used for boys, too, with its navy blue, mint green, beige and yellow patterned papers. And why not use a bit of pink on there, too, for boys? I should try that sometime - scrap something about Louis-Olivier using these papers... Stay tuned for that one! Here is what I came up with:

Yes, I know - I'm a tad on a scrapping Éloïse binge lately. But I can't help it! Philippe Dumas took some amazing photos of her when he took our family pictures in November - here she is with my niece, Isabelle, who is also one of her godmothers. Éloïse loves to cuddle... do you think we're enjoying every minute of it? Hee!Hee!

So, yes, most of the products you see on this layout are from the American Crafts Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm collection which you can find over at LCOM right here. But I did also add some Studio Calico wood veneers, Prima and American Crafts alphas, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, Tim Holtz staples, Kaisercraft pearls, Stampin' Up ribbon, DMC floss, and an ACCO paper clip. I also used my faithful Bazzill Basics stitching template, Stampin' Up scallop border punch and a Fiskars circle punch. Now, on the upper-righthand corner of the sketch, there is a bannerlike shape where the title was suggested to go. I honestly tried to do that, but instead, ended up with those three stitched, beige paper pieces instead. Who knew? Love the effect they have on the layout with their flipped edges! See? There are no mistakes in scrapbooking - only opportunities!! :)

And the fun doesn't stop here - Ashley Hamm and Jocelyne Roy have also designed layouts using the same sketch and products. Hop on over to today's reveal over at LCOM and have a look at how different their interpretations are (I'm a bit jealous of Jocelyne's handmade feather, but don't tell her, OK? Hee!Hee!). And why not join in on the fun and create a layout using the sketch? If you do, please link it up to today's LCOM reveal and you just might win yourself a copy of the Scrapbook & Cards Today's CardMaps 3. YAHOO!

Oh! And next week, I'll finally be able to talk to you about what's coming up over at LCOM in February. Can't wait!!

Happy scrapping!

Stuck?! Sketches: January 15th Sketch and Scrapbook & Cards Today January 2014 Colour Suite

Hi, everyone! A quick post for you today to show you what I just finished scrapping:

Another one of my sweet Éloïse... After the first month, she started to wake up for real and this Superman pose was one of her favourites!! So happy that our friend, Philippe Dumas, was able to capture this moment as she doesn't do her Superbaby pose all that often anymore. :( She is growing up WAY too fast...

I used a mish mash of Studio Calico collections on this one - Here & There, Snippets, and Sundrifter. Also splashed some SC wood veneer stars with some Tattered Angels, Evalicious, Jillibean Soup, and yes, that's an Ali Edwards die-cut title I did on my very own Silhouette!! LOVE that machine!! I also used my brand new Prima Stitched Circle stamps which I am head over heels in love with. Of course, I added some stitching using my Bazzill Basics stitching template and cut those half circle with my very handy Fiskars circle punch. Can anyone tell me where that button comes from? The one right next to that badge? Thanks! ;)

I was inspired by two challenges for this layout - the first from Stuck?! Sketches with a fabulous layout sketch by one of my favourite sketch artists, Laura Whitaker, and the second, from Scrapbook & Cards Today's Colour Suite for January 2014. Kudos to you for the inspiration!!

That's it for now: mommy duty calls - Éloïse just woke up from her nap and it's time for a feeding. ;)

Happy scrapping!!

Let's Capture Our Memories: Sketch #55

Hi, everyone! So happy to be here with you today to show you some of my latest creations using sketches revealed today over at Let's Capture Our Memories. Here are the superb Becky Fleck sketches you can also find over at PageMaps:

And here is the layout I came up with:

This layout is super special to me as it is the first one I've done with a picture of just my daughter, Éloïse. Even if I have been scrapping with more girly colours over the past year, I still consider scrapping in pink quite new for me. No worries, though! I am thoroughly enjoying it! ;) This photo was taken by a friend of ours, Philippe Dumas, during our annual family portrait session. I actually rotated it once towards the left - I liked it better vertically. Used tons of My Mind's Eye's Collectable-Unforgettable collection on this one, but sprinked it with love using Stampin' Up, Pink Paislee, Basic Grey, Maya Road, American Crafts, Studio Calico, DMC (and yes, I used my Bazzill Basics stitching template!) and Tattered Angels. And of course, most of these products can be purchased for your scrapping pleasure over at LCOM right here! Woo!Hoo!

And for my card:

The sketch instantly made me think of some old Close to my Heart collections I had stashed to make a Father's Day card. I also used some Prima, Maya Road, and Hemptique, as well as the Stampin' Up scallop punch and some DMC floss using my very handy Bazzill Basics stitching template. However, I have no recollection who made that Post Office piece! Mea culpa!

And do you really want to be inspired? Head on over here to today's reveal over at LCOM and see for yourselves how versatile these sketches really are. And if you want to join in on the fun, please feel free to create a layout and/or a card using the sketches above and link them up to today's LCOM reveal. A Scrapbook & Cards Today's CarpMaps 3 is up for the taking for all projects linked up to the January reveals. YAHOO!

Let's Capture Our Memories: "Sketch This Out!" Sketch #54

Hey, everyone! Today is the first "Sketch This Out!" feature over at Let's Capture Our Memories!! Every two Saturdays, Ashley Hamm, Jocelyne Roy and I will reveal our designs using the same sketch with the same set of products - a great way for any scrapper to see that any collection can be used by any scrapper, for any theme, via any style. Exciting!!

This week, we had an awesome sketch to play with by Becky Fleck over at PageMaps. Here it is:

And we were asked to get creative with the Glitz Design - Finnley collection. I love what Glitz Design itself had to say about Finnley: Woodland animals… Feathers… Trendy colors… Triangles… Full of Whimsy…  The Finnley collection is full of love, & will be perfect for babies, relationships, & everything else in between!

I truly enjoyed working with this collection. The colours are so vibrant, yet there are lots of mellower pieces to even things out. And the embellishments are to die for! LOVE the rhinestones! And there are so many die-cuts and stickers that you can do tons of projects without running out. Here is what I created:

I love this shot of our cat, Caillou, taken by a friend, Philippe Dumas. I've been trying to take pictures of Caillou ever since we adopted him in May 2013, but I can't seem to figure how to do it so that they turn out like I want them to. Philippe sure knew how to go about it! LOVE it!!

Naturally, for this layout, I mostly used products from the Glitz Design Finnley collection including the patterned paper, die-cuts, stickets and rhinestones (did I mention that I LOVE them?!?), but I also dashed some Tim Holtz, Studio Calico, StazOn and DMC floss on there, too. You can find most of these products over at LCOM, right here.

Want to see what Ashley and Jocelyne created with the same sketch and products? Go to today's LCOM reveal and see for yourselves how are takes are totally different from one another. And... if you want to try today's sketch to highlight a special moment in your life, please feel free to link your design to today's LCOM reveal - you'll earn a chance to win a Scrapbook & Cards Today's CardMaps 3. Woo!Hoo!

Oh! And starting in February, you'll get to see lots more of Ashley, Jocelyne and I over at LCOM. Just sayin'! ;) Stay tuned for more details...

Happy scrapping!!

Let's Capture Our Memories: Sketch #53

Hello, everyone! I am so excited to share this post with you - today is my first day as blog coordinator over at Let's Capture Our Memories!! Woo!Hoo! I am coordinating the design team's reveals for LCOM's owner, Isabellle. Every two weeks, eight talented scrappers will be showcased on the LCOM blog -  four layout designers and four card designers, each four using a sketch.

Here are the two sketches by the super talented Becky Fleck over at PageMaps the LCOM girls got the chance to play with this week:

And since I got the chance to see the sketches a bit ahead of time, I thought I would join in on the fun for my own blog post  So, without further adieu, here is the layout I created:

Mostly all My Mind's Eye products on this one - all from the Collectable-Notable collection. I also added some odds and ends of Crate Paper, Maya Road, Studio Calico, Tattered Angels, American Crafts, October Afternoon, Bazzill Basics, DMC floss and Tim Holtz. And yes, most of these products you can find at LCOM. Fun!

Next up, the card I made using some old Simple Stories, Stampin' Up, Bazzill Basics, and DMC floss:
