Stuck?! Sketches: August 15th Sketch and Reveal

Hello, everyone! Already in the middle of the month!! WOW! Summer is just going by just like that! But no worries - still lots of time to scrap and today is reveal day over at Stuck?! Sketches where Laura Whitaker is sharing a new sketch to inspire all scrappers out there. Here it is:

Love it! And here's what I came up with:

I was so psyched to see that big spot on the bottom of the sketch reserved for patterned paper! I usually cluster patterned paper around the photo, but when I saw this sketch, I was totally excited to try something new. Pretty much all the layout was done using Basic Grey Hello, Luscious pieces. And instead of adding a second photo, I replaced it with some fussy-cut flowers and stems I found on a coordinating piece of patterned paper. I also added some Basic Grey alphas (which I inked using some Tim Holtz Distress Ink and embossed with the Cuttlebug), Cosmo Crickets word/phrase stickers, a Freckled Fawn wood veneer word, a Prima metal butterfly clip, Stampin' Up vellum, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, Liquitex acrylic paint, hand-stitching using a Bazzill Basics stitching template with some DMC floss, and old corrugated box and recipe card pieces.

And there you have it! Want to see what the other Stuck?! Sketches designers have come up with? Hop along right over here. And when you link your own design using today's sketch over on today's Stuck?! Sketches reveal, you'll get the chance to win some awesome scrappy loot from ScrapMuch? and A Flair for Buttons. Now, there's a reason to get scrappin'! ;)

Happy scrapping!

Stuck?! Sketches: August 1st Sketch and Reveal

Hello, hello! I can't believe that August is already here!! Holy schnitzels!!! But that means that it's another reveal day over at Stuck?! Sketches. Yabadabadoo! Laura Whitaker provided this great sketch for us to play with:

And this is what I came up with:

This photo is so precious for me - a simple pic of my mother's hands rinsing carrots she had just harvested from the garden. Growing up, this was always a common scene and one I often took for granted. But as I grow older, I try to savour these little moments as much as I can as I know I will truly miss them when she is no longer there to do little, random things like this.

I can't truly explain why, but gardening photos always remind me of Basic Grey's Picadilly collection. So that's exactly what I chose for this layout. Patterned papers, stickers and a button - most of this layout is made with pieces from that collection. I also used a tiny strip of Pebbles patterned paper, two Maya Road envelopes and pins (threaded with some Stampin' Up linen thread, just like the button), a Kaisercraft wood veneer flower I've had in my stash for-EVER, My Little Yellow Bicycle corrugated alphas, Studio Calico wood veneer hearts, Stampin' Up vellum, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, hand-stitching using a Bazzill Basics stitching template and some DMC floss and an old rolodex card (A huge shout out to Isabelle E for sharing!). Love how this turned out. Nothing trendy, really, but a piece using scrappy stash I've always loved, but never got around in using.
