Stuck?! Sketches: March 15th Sketch and Reveal

Mid-month already! And that means that another awesome sketch by the fabulous Laura Whitaker has just been revealed over at Stuck?! Sketches!! Wanna see what she's sketched for us this time? Here it is:

In love with this sketch doesn't really cover how I L-O-V-E this sketch!! It's absolutely AMAZING! Here's my take on it:

I've always loved this family photo a scrappy friend of mine, Sandie Dunn, took of us way back in 2010. Funny how I've had it for years and never thought of scrapping it with Echo Park's Note to Self collection. The colour palette is just so perfect and brings the attention straight to Louis-Olivier. Layered tons of bits and pieces of that collection onto an OLD piece of Basic Grey patterned paper from their Origins collection and added a bit of BG's What's Up red patterned paper. Also splashed some Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze on there and scattered some gold Elizabeth Craft Designs Peel-off stickers here and there. That title? A foiled thicker title from American Crafts. Stitched a bit using gold DMC floss and a Close to My Heart stitching guide, stapled a few Making Memories staples and glued a few strands of Hemptique crafter's cord directly onto my photo. I also tucked in a few pieces of good ol' corrugated cardboard I inked a bit with some Ranger Distress ink. And that die-cut heart in the background? It's a downloadable cut file I found on the Scrapbook & Cards Today website designed by the über-talented Nicole Nowosad - and it's totally free right here!

Challenge YOUrself: Challenge #16 - The Bucket List

Hello, everyone! Today is reveal day over at Challenge YOUrself, where we are all challenged monthly to get in front of the camera and scrap memories that include us in the photo. This month, it's all about the bucket list - a series of experiences and/or achievements one hopes to accomplish during a specific length of time. Here's what I came up with:

Used oodles and oodles and oodles more of Crate Paper's Storyteller collection on this one. Set on yet another MME kraft patterned paper b-side, I also added some Basic Grey brads and alphas, Making Memories staples, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, Queen & Co. washi tape, a few wood veneer dragonflies (American Crafts? Prima? Studio Calico? Not sure!), a few extra alphas from MME, a Jillibean Soup sticker and some stitching using my newest favourite tool - one of two Close to My Heart stitching templates - with some DMC floss. And those pinwheels? Made them myself by cutting different-sized squares, cutting lines towards the centre from each corner, and folding every other flap. Easy peasy! But really, this layout was HUGELY inspired by the January 2015 My Creative Sketches sketch:

Isn't it a great sketch? As soon as I saw it, my scrappy senses soared! Hee!Hee! I know this will become a go-to sketch for me. On that note, please feel free to hop on board with the rest of the Challenge YOUrself bucket lists and link up your own design to today's reveal over at Challenge YOUrself. There is a sweet, sweet prize up for grabs so... go, go, go!

Happy scrapping!

Stuck?! Sketches: March 1st Sketch and Reveal

Hello, hello! Another month is here! Can you believe it? And in my scrappy world, that means that it's another reveal day over at Stuck?! Sketches!! WOO!HOO! Here is the sketch by the wonderful Laura Whitaker the team played with this time around:

And here's my layout:

I must admit that at first, the sketch did intimidate me a tad, but once I started flipping it around, it came to me. Used tons of Basic Grey's Bow Ties collection on this one, stuck on a My Mind's Eye b-side piece of kraft patterned paper (L-O-V-E the natural fibers you can see it in!). Also used a Jillibean Soup word sticker, an American Crafts chipboard title piece, Making Memories black staples, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, a Martha Stewart border punch, a Close to My Heart metal hinge, pieces of Stampin' Up cardstock, and why, yes, some stitching using a Close to My Heart stitching template and some DMC floss. Oh! And my favourite part of this design - a Nicole Nowosad cut file made available for free over at Scrapbook & Cards Today, that I layered right over this awesome photo of my son, Louis-Olivier, taken by Philippe Dumas way back in 2011. The cut file just brings the focus right back to his sweet, little face.

Wanna see what the rest of the Stuck?! Sketches design team concocted with today's sketch? Hop on right over here. And if you are inspired to scrap a design of your own with it, please link your finished product over at Stuck?!
