My Scraps & More September Sketch Challenge

WOW!  Two posts in one day!!  Hee!Hee!

My Scraps & More recently posted a new sketch challenge with a sketch by their new sketch designer, Kristine Davidson. I was instantly drawn to her design and thought I'd give it a try. Here is her sketch and what I came up with:

Once again, I went to my Heidi Swapp stash and fell upon her No Limits collection. It was perfect for this picture of one of my voice students singing at her high school graduation this past June. I also used some embellishments by Magenta (don't you just love those stars?), Tim Holtz, and alphas by Prima and Bella Blvd.  And of course, I splashed a few splats of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze.

Thanks My Scraps & More and Kristine for a great sketch and a chance to win some scrappy goodies!!

Let's Capture These Sketches: Sketch #151 --- REVEAL!!!

Where has the time gone?!? The month of September is practically already over!! I was leafing through my latest scrapbooking album this morning and couldn't get over the number of layouts I have made since the month of June when I bought the album in the first place. Lots of great memories enhanced with beautiful paper and embellishments... Gotta love it!

Kimberly Figures created the sketch that the LCOM girls used for their designs this week. Here it is:

Love how the sketch can totally be rotated and/or scaled down and still make sense. Here is what I came up with:

This is a picture of one of my dearest cousins, Lynn. She and I practically grew up together, being not quite six months apart in age. She is truly like a sister to me. And even though we certainly do NOT see each other or keep in touch as much as we should, when we do get together, it's like we've seen each other a few days back (Our husbands always get a kick out of it!). As the journalling explains, I am so proud of who she has become and of what she has created for herself. More than words can possibly try to explain...

And yes, you've guessed right. I used lots of Simple Stories - Take a Hike on this one. You can also see some Stampin' Up ribbon, Jillibean Soup and October Afternoon alphas (with Simple Stories' ones as well!), Kaisercraft pearls, Tim Holtz by Ranger Distress ink, and the ever so faithful Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze.

Let's Capture These Sketches: Sketch #150 --- REVEAL!!!

Another one, everyone!! But this one is special because it's LCOM's 150th sketch!! Congrats to everyone who has made this a possibility!!

This week's sketch was another one by Natalie Roy:

When I saw it, I had the instant urge to flip it around so I did!! And here is what I came up with:

And yes, another layout of one my favourite friends out there, Isabelle.  She is the absolute BEST storyteller of all time and I wanted to do a layout to celebrate that.  The circle medallion on the sketch made me think of those accordion flowers, but I wanted to add some more so guess what!?! I did!  The patterned papers you see are all from SEI's Couture line.  I also added some accessories by Magic Mesh, Maya Road, Tattered Angels, Studio Calico, Tim Holtz, Authentique, Basic Grey and Jenni Bowlin. And the buttons? From my Maman's vintage button stash.  LOVE them!!

Let's Capture These Sketches: Sketch #149 --- REVEAL!!!

Seriously?  Another week has just flown by?  Again?!?  The silver lining for me with how fast time is ticking away is that, for me, it's truly the most beautiful season of the year!!  I absolutely ADORE September and October weather and I am trying to get as much out of it as I possibly can.  Walking to the grocery store, playing outside with our son, crunching the first fallen leaves under our feet... The beginning of Fall is awesome!!  And if that wasn't enough, cropping season is within our reach!!  Hee!Hee!

This week's LCOM sketch was another one by Natalie Roy:

As many of you know, I LOVE layering and this sketch totally inspired me to relish in it.  Here is what I came up with:

I am seriously, but really seriously having a love affair with the Heidi Swapp collections.  As soon as I saw this great pic of my two nieces, I knew I wanted to set it on Heidi's Sugar Chic line.  Heidi's products blend SO well together and are just the thing to use for some great layering.  I also included a few odds and ends from other companies to pull everything together: Thickers from American Crafts, Basic Grey buttons, staples using Tim Holtz' Tiny Attacher, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze (I seriously never leave home for a crop without it!) and the butterfly... a sweet embellishment I found on a random bobby pin!!

And of course, the LCOM girls have done it again!! Great layouts for your scrappy eyes to feast on and your scrappy hearts to be inspired.  Click on the link below and let the oohs and aahs roar!!

Let's Capture These Sketches: Sketch #149 --- REVEAL!!!: Woot!!! It's Friday! I hope you are all having a wonderful day and looking forward to the weekend! We have a cool sketch this week create...

Let's Capture These Sketches: Sketch #148 --- REVEAL!!!

Hello, everyone!

Can you imagine? Ten weeks worth of sketches and designs for and by the LCOM sketch design team have gone by already!! And this week's sketch did NOT disappoint!! I absolutely LOVED to do this sketch by JJ Sobey:

Totally adaptable, I flipped it once to the left in order to work with my favourite photos from Scrapbook & Cards Today's Crop & Create's Moncton event, held in April 2012. Here is what I came up with:

Now, you have to understand that as soon as I got home from that fabulous weekend last Spring, I knew I wanted to use Heidi Swapp's Sugar Chic collection to scrap these pictures. The colours and patterns totally reminded me of the event's colour scheme as well as the giddiness I felt for well over a week after I got home.   I also aded some Prima and Studio Calico wood embellisments, Ranger Claudine Hellmuth Studio Gesso (my ode to Vicki Boutin!), the ever so faithful Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze and a few Tim Holtz Tiny Attacher staples. I am abosutely in love with this design, especially because it totally represents, for me, how awesome and special that weekend was. I cannot wait for March 2013, when the SCT gang will be wheeling in to Moncton once again to host another unforgettable Crop & Create event, I'm sure. I have goosebumps just thinking about it!!!

Now, if you want to see what the girls at LCOM created based on this sketch, click on the link below.  It's well worth it!!

Let's Capture These Sketches: Sketch #147 --- REVEAL!!!

Hello, everyone!!  Can you believe it?  Already in the month of September!! I'm so happy: the days are cooler, the air is crisp, and cropping season is just around the corner!!  WOO!HOO! It all officially starts on September 28/12, when a bunch of us will be scrapping to our little hearts' content at the Amsterdam Inn in Moncton, NB at a LCOM crop hosted by the fabulous Tanya Munn.  Can't wait!!

In the meantime, we are still in reveal mode for another week.  The LCOM girls had another great Natalie Roy sketch to work with:

And here is what I came up with:

Now, you have to understand that I used to hate tomatoes.  I didn't like the taste or the texture. But one day, I tasted one of my Maman's tomatoes, fresh from the garden... It was truly love at first bite!!  Hee!Hee!  So much so, that I can now eat cherry tomatoes like candy.  Numanum!! That's why I always wanted to scrap a picture of my Maman's tomatoes. And I knew that the Basic Grey Curio collection was going to be perfect for it (my sister did a layout of our mother's tomatoes last year with this collection)!! This layout was also the first of my creations using Ranger's Claudine Hellmuth Studio Gesso!! Well, talk about a love affair!!  Hee!Hee! I also included some Magenta, October Afternoon and Basic Grey alphas, as well as some trim.  Don't you just love that border I made using one of EK Success' border punches? And yes, I hand-stitched the border all around the page (after having poked the holes using a Crafter's Workshop template).

Oh! And if you want some great inspiration, just click on the link below to see all the great, unique ways to interpret this sketch.  Amazing!!  Awesome inspiration, for SURE!!
