Stuck?! Sketches: August 15th Sketch and Reveal

Hello, everyone! Can't believe that half of August has already come and gone and that... gulp!... I only have two and a half more weeks of maternity leave left before life takes another turn!! EEK! Scrapbooking is definitely helping me in sorting out all these emotions that are coming and going and coming and going again. Thank goodness for paper!! ;) And today, is the second reveal day of the month over at Stuck?! Sketches. Here's the sketch by the incredible Laura Whitaker:

And here's my design along with a few close-ups:

I really wanted to respect the multi-photo concept of Laura's sketch, but it was one of those days that the photo was calling me. You see, on it, you have my husband, Mathieu, along with our oldest nephews, Émilien and Renaud, who both graduated from high school this past June. Even though this pic was taken in 2011, it shows how these three can still have tons of fun together when they just let go and are goofy. And I love that my husband is practically as close to them as I am, if not more - these two have Mathieu as an older brother almost. We're looking forward in having them right here with us in the Moncton area by the end of the month - they've both decided to pursue their studies in town! WOO!HOO!

Used tons of Bo Bunny's Key Lime collection for this one. I just loved the bright colours - totally contrasting from the black and white photo! Also added a Silhouette cut file for the title (isn't it awesome?), October Afternoon alphas, Stampin' Up silver-foiled paper and brads, a Studio Calico camera wood veneer, an Evalicious flair badge (which I am quite proud I used - I have a ton and I never think of using them even if I love the look of them on other people's layouts), a Tim Holtz stencil with some of his ink (the strips above the photo are totally hiding an inking mishap!), and a bit of stitching using my Bazzil Basics stitching template and some DMC floss. And there you go! Another layout - BOOM!

Stuck?! Sketches: August 1st Sketch and Reveal

Hey, everyone! Thought I would show you what I designed for the August 1st reveal over at Stuck?! Sketches. And this reveal is extra special for me as it was a co-challenge with Let's Capture Our Memories, where I co-coordinate the blog for the owner, who supplied the colour combination. So, without any further adieu, drumroll please...

The sketch by the fabulous Laura Whitaker:

The colour combination prepared by LCOM:

And my design followed by a few close-ups:

Anybody guess what collection this is? Yup! That's right! Oxford by Basic Grey, c. 2011. As soon as I saw the colour combination, I thought of this awesome collection I still had on hand (12X12 patterned paper, sticker elements, and pieces). I also used a Simple Stories title sticker and some of their burlap banners, as well as October Afternoon alphas, Maya Road butterfly metal paper clips, Tim Holtz rubons, Making Memories staples, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, and my forever scrapping staple - a Bazzill Basics Paper stitching template with some DMC floss.

Want to see what the Stuck?! Sketches team designed? Click right here. And how about the LCOM girls? Hop on right over here. Now, of course, if you participate in the challenges over at Stuck?! Sketches and LCOM, there are prizes up for grabs. May Arts (2 ribbon spools of winner's choice) and Flourish with a Bling (a $15 gift certificate) are sponsoring the Stuck?! sketch challenge and LCOM itself is offering a $20 gift certificate! You just have to make a layout using this sketch and colour combo and link it up to both reveals on each blog.

Happy scrapping!
