Let's Capture Our Memories: Sketch #63 (and a few extras!)

Hi, everyone! I know! It's been awhile, but I was away on vacation with the kids while our oldest had his March Break. But I'm back, ready to blog away about my latest scrappy adventures. This week, I played a bit with Let's Capture Our Memories' sketches by Kimberly Figures that were revealed today. First off, the layout sketch:

And my creation:

Now, I know, my design totally went on an adventure of its own on this one. But do you see those three pieces of patterned papers behind the photo? They started off in that diamond-shaped pattern on the sketch - honest and promise! Used tons of Basic Grey's Mint Julep collection on this which you can see right here. Also added a piece of Ruby Rock-It patterned paper, as well as some Pink Paislee, My Little Yellow Bicycle, Tattered Angels, Heidi Swapp and DMC floss with, you guessed it, one of my many Bazzill Basics stitching templates. And yes, the photo (of my eldest nice) was taken by Philippe Dumas.

And now for the card sketch:

And my take on the sketch:

I made this card while visiting my parents with the kids over March Break. All of the card was done with Basic Grey's Hipster collection (which you can find right here) and a few dashes of American Crafts and DMC floss using my Crafter's Workshop stitching template. The piece of cardstock I used is actually from my sister's scrappy stash and she had no idea who was the manufacturer - she's had it that long... :) I was supposed to give this card  to a dear friend this week as a belated birthday card, but she hasn't it seen it yet... hee!hee! If you're reading this, you know who you are... ;)

I also prepared a few blog features for LCOM before I left for vacation that showcased a few of my layouts. Here they are:
