Let's Capture Our Memories: "Sketch This Out!" Sketch #60

Good Saturday to all! Yes, that means another reveal day over at Let's Capture Our Memories!! Woo!Hoo! This week, Jocelyne, Ashley and I got to work with a sketch by Kimberly Figures and pieces of BoBunny's Zip-A-Dee-Doodle collection.

At first, I was truly a bit at a loss for words with this one. The patterned paper patterns were so big for the sketch!! Think outside the box, Aurélie, think outside the box - that's what I told myself in order to see the challenge before me in a brand new light. And boom! It hit me - take out your scissors and start fussy-cutting! Here is what all that cutting turned into:

Once I got over my initial, silly first impression, I had a blast putting this layout together. Actually, I L-O-V-E how it turned out!! It's probably just that - I had to rethink not only the sketch but the products to make it work for me. Youpi!

Other than the BoBunny Zip-A-Dee-Doodle pieces, I also used some Core'dinations cardstock, American Crafts and October Afternoon alphas, Maya Road and Studio Calico embellishments, a Tim Holtz stencil with some Stampin' Up ink, as well as some DMC floss and Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze. And of course, you'll be able to find most of these products over in the LCOM store right here.

Please hop over to today's reveal over at LCOM and see what Jocelyne and Ashley came up with. And go for it for yourself! Create something using this sketch and link a photo of it to today's LCOM reveal. We'll get to see your awesome design and you'll get the chance to win a great prize! It's a win-win type of a thing!! ;)

Let's Capture Our Memories: Sketch #59

Hello, again, everyone! WOW! It's been a busy week!! Between school closures, vaccinations, and Éloïse's four-month checkup, it's a miracle that I got the chance to sit down and scrap. But, scrap I did on Thursday! I thought I would prepare a little somethin' somethin' with this week's sketches over at Let's Capture Our Memories (one of the perks of coordinating the blog is that I get to see the sketches ahead of time! YAY for me!). This week, the design team got to play with some Becky Fleck/PageMaps sketches. Here they are:

I just love that patchwork behind the spot in the layout sketch! I couldn't wait to sit down and have a stab at it!! Here is what I came up with:

This is a photo of my niece, Lilianne, taken last Summer in Cape Breton while we were home for a long weekend. We don't spend nearly as much time as we would like to over there and I try to take as many photographs I can to hold me through our next visit. It's actually become kind of a tradition with Lilianne to take some photos before we leave. I've been doing this since 2008 and love to see how she's grown up throughout the years. She is so amazing! A wonderful niece and cousin!! I love her to bits!!!

On this layout, I mostly used pieces from Basic Grey's Knee Highs and Bow Ties collections. The patterned papers of these collections are so happy-looking. It's like they celebrate all the great things about being a kid. I also dashed some Maya Road, Prima, Tattered Angels, and DMC floss using my Crafter's Workshop stitching template. And of course, we have a Heidi Swapp cuttable file I did on there, using my Silhouette Cameo and some Stampin' Up cardstock.

And that card sketch? SO user-friendly and totally versatile for any occasion! Here is my take on it:

Louis-Olivier has been invited to a few birthday parties lately, and I just love using the Close to My Heart Superhero collection to make birthday cards for boys. It's just so perfect! Here you see pieces of that collection with some Stampin' Up cardstock, stamp, and die-cut, Studio Calico wood veneer stars, an ACCO paperclip along with some DMC floss using my Bazzill Basics stitching template.

And there you have it! Another set of creations using LCOM's awesome sketches as inspiration!! If you want to see what the design team did with them, hop on over to today's reveal and see how great their designs are. If you feel your scrappy mojo a comin' with these sketches, by all means, create something and link it/them to today's post over at LCOM. You'll be entered to win a beautiful assortment of Bo Bunny embellisments from its Love Letters collection.

Let's Capture Our Memories: Product Shuffle - Wood Veneers

Hello to all! Another quick post to let you know of my recent reveal over at Let's Capture Our Memories' Product Shuffle blog feature. It's all about using scrappy supplies differently. This week, it's all about refurbishing the ever-so-popular wood veneer. Yes, I'm guilty! I never alter wood veneer shapes. They look awesome au naturel. However, when the time is right, they can look even better if you give them a boost in colour. So, without further adieu, here is the layout I designed using a Susan Stringfellow sketch created for Sketch Savvy:

See them? My wood veneers? Yes, that's right! I coloured those wood veneer arrows with a good ol' fashioned Sharpie marker! It was so much fun that I coloured the chipboard alphas, too! For more info on this layout and other ways of altering your wood veneer stash, hop on over to today's feature over at LCOM right here.

Oh! And Susan from Sketch Savvy just featured this layout on her blog! How fun!! This is what it's all about!!

Let's Capture Our Memories: "Sketch This Out!" Sketch #58

Good morning, everyone! Today's reveal day over at Let's Capture Our Memories and I thought I'd let you know what I've been up to. This week, Ashley, Jocelyne and I worked with an awesome sketch by one of my favourite sketch artists right now, Laura Whitaker from Stuck?!Sketches. Laura's sketches are so versatile and totally user-friendly. I can usually whip up a layout in no time when I use them - her sketches ALWAYS jumpstart my scrappy mojo. Here it is:

LCOM's Isabelle asked to use products from Pink Paislee's Secret Crush collection (which you can see here). Ta-da! This is what I came up with:

Yes, those are other sweet photos of my sweet Éloïse and one of her godmothers, my niece, Isabelle, taken by the fabulous Philippe Dumas. Just so precious... Other than Pink Paislee, I used some Core'dinations cardstock, American Crafts alphas, Maya Road pins, a Jillibean Soup button, DMC floss, stitching templates by The Crafter's Workshop and Bazzill Basics, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, and finally, but certainly not least, an ACCO paper clip.

Hop on over to today's reveal over at LCOM to see what Ashley and Jocelyne created as well. And of course, if you play along with LCOM by linking up your own design using today's sketch, you'll get a chance to win LCOM's great February prize - an assortment of embellishments from Bo Bunny's Love Notes collection!

Let's Capture Our Memories: Inspiration Station - Ode to Taracotta7!

Good morning, everyone! Just a quick post to show you a layout I designed for Let's Capture Our Memories' first Inspiration Station reveal. I call it my Ode to Taracotta7 - I have been following Tara's work for some time now via her gallery at scrapbook.com and absolutely love her style. Her layering and the attention she gives to her journalling is awesome. I was so excited when she gave me the thumbs up to lift one of her layouts for this feature! Only fitting that I drew inspiration from one of her all-time favourite layouts:

And here is what I designed:

Mostly My Mind's Eye's Collectable Memorable collection on here, but I also used the Tim Holtz Splatters Stencil, some Studio Calico wood veneer hearts, DMC floss with my very handy Bazzill Basics stitching template, Crate Paper and BoBunny patterned paper, Crafter's Workshops Ronda Palazzari Designs stencil, Close to My Heart chipboard alpha and a Jillibean Soup title sticker. Oh! And that date sticker? It's actually hiding a stencilling mess! Gotta love scrapbooking opportunities to make it right! Hee!Hee! And yes, that's my sweet Éloïse in her father's arms... cute, eh? Thanks to the fabulous Philippe Dumas for capturing this great moment for us.

Happy scrapping!

Let's Capture Our Memories: Sketch #57

Hi, everyone! Another week, another reveal day over at Let's Capture Our Memories. This week, the girls played with sketches by Kimberley Figures. Here they are:

Now, I must admit, I had lots of trouble getting started with these sketches. I couldn't get going, you know? I actually made another card, but just wasn't happy with it. Has that ever happened to you? But then, I started looking around on blogs and galleries, and found this great card by Kim Kesti for Simple Stories over here that reminded me of the card sketch:

... and then I thought to myself, just think outside the box, Aurelie. This has happened to me in the past and what I usually do to get over the creative block is to look past what's on the sketch and/or scale it down. So... Want to see what I came up with? Tada!

Used TONS of Basic Grey for these projects - Kneehighs & Bowties to be precise (which you can find right here!). Also used one of those fabulous new Tim Holtz stencils with some Stampin' Up ink, Pink Paislee, Maya Road, American Crafts, Tattered Angels, and DMC floss using my handy Bazzill Basics stitiching template. And I can't forget that scalloped rectangle cut with my Silhouette. LOVE!! Oh! And I also added a Tim Holtz wooden number, Basic Grey brads and Stampin' Up ribbon on there as well.

You see? It's all about the process. We all start from somewhere. Some of us stick with the plan and some of us kind of divert on a tangent. I'm more of a tangent-kind-of-girl I think... This week anyways. ;)

Oh! And please hop on over to today's LCOM blog reveal to see what the girls designed this week. Play along with them and you just might win a fabulous prize! Woo!Hoo!

I can't believe it! I almost forgot - as promised, today I can talk to you a bit about what's coming ahead on the LCOM blog. Starting Monday, there will be two extra posts every week. Mondays will be for you to see how we are inspired and what we do with that inspiration. And Thursdays will be all about the product shuffle - using those products we all love in a totally new and beautiful way. Can't wait for the fun to begin!! Yahoo!
