Stuck?! Sketches: May15th Sketch and Reveal

Mid-month already! Mid-month already! And of course, Stuck?! Sketches has another fabulous Laura Whitaker sketch up along with the work of the design team! Wanna see the sketch? It's a beaut!

And here's my design:

Tons and tons and tons and... yes, tons of Basic Grey Picadilly on here. Also dashed a few Crate Paper buttons, Authentique alphas, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze and some hand-stitching using a Bazzill Basics stitching template and some DMC floss. Oh! And the title is a Silhouette file that I cut twice on two different colours of Basic Grey patterned paper and layered slightly off, one over the other. And yes, that's little ol' me way back in the Summer of 1980.

Such an awesome sketch, eh? Made designing with it SO easy! And you wanna know something else? I love this sketch SO much that I think I'm gonna make one for each one of these flipped versions:

The possibilities are ENDLESS! Wanna design a layout using it? Please do and link it up to today's reveal over at Stuck?! Sketches right here. You'll get a chance to win some awesome scrappy prizes from Creative Embellishments and ScrapMuch?.

Challenge YOUrself: Challenge #18 - Sketch Challenge

Hello, hello! It's reveal day over at Challenge YOUrself, where it's all about scrapping about YOU! This month, blog owner Lynn Lefebvre challenged us to design a layout using a specific sketch that she herself created. Here's my design followed by that awesome sketch:

Now, the inspiration for this piece didn't stop at the sketch for me. No siree Bob! Colour palette? Watercolours? Gelatos? Oh, yes! This one was totally inspired by the fabulous Missy Whidden!! I've been viewing her You Tube channel very often lately, and watching her scrap with these mixed media items gave me the itch to try them out. I had a few mishaps, but for my first try, I think I fared pretty well. Can't wait to take another stab at it on my next layout!! Gotta love new techniques!!

Set on a Basic Grey Picadilly patterned paper, I layered strips of patterned papers by Basic Grey, American Crafts, and We R Memory Keepers. I also tucked in some ephemera pieces by American Crafts along with some Heidi Swapp frames. Alphas are by Heidi Swapp and Basic Grey. Of course I handstitched a bit using a Bazzill Basics stitching template and some DMC floss, and à la Missy Whidden, I tucked some DMC floss behind some of those layered pieces. Watercolours by Artist's Loft. Gelatos by Faber-Castell. Dabbed some Claudine Hellmuth Studio Gesso on there, and I also splashed a few splats of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze. Staples by Memory Makers. Photos by Philippe Dumas.

And there you have it! Wanna see what the other design team members created using this sketch? Hop on right over here, and when you create your own layout about YOU using this month's sketch challenge, please link an image of your design to today's reveal over at Challenge YOUrself. You'll get the chance to win some awesome scrappy loot by doing so! YAHOO!

Stuck?! Sketches: May1st Sketch and Reveal

Hello, hello! May is here, can you believe it?! The year is flying by so fast I truly can't keep up! ;) On that note, let's start the month with a Stuck?! Sketches reveal. YAHOO! Here is the Laura Whitaker sketch by which the design team was inspired:

And here's my design:

Used tons of Authentique's Pride and Anchored collections on here. Bought the Pride collection a few years back to make one of my brothers a mini-album of his trip to Washington D.C., and discovered that the Anchored collection had awesome background papers that matched the Pride collection papers. Win win for sure! And who would have thought that such colours would work for a pic of girl's first birthday? But they are absolutely perfect for this photo of ME (Imagine!) on my first birthday way back in 1979!! No pink in sight!! ;) I also splashed a few extra embellishments from some of my favourite go-to manufacturers: Fancy Pants' cork hearts and sequins, Studio Calico wood veneer hearts, American Crafts and Stampin' Up brads, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, and be still my beating heart, some good ol' fashioned Avery reinforcements. The title was die-cut on my Silhouette using a Silhouette design. I embossed it using my trusty Cuttlebug and one of its staple folders. And of course, I hand-stitched a bit using a The Crafter's Workshop stitching template and some DMS floss. And yes, I stitched straight through my photo - and it's the original! :o Hee!Hee!

And there you have it! If you'd like to design a  layout of your own using this sketch, please link it up to today's reveal over at Stuck?! Sketches right here. You'll get the chance to win some awesome scrappy loot from DCWV or Scrapmatts.
