Stuck?! Sketches: February 15th Sketch and Reveal

Hello, everyone! Mid-month already, can you imagine?! But... that means that it's reveal day over at Stuck?! Sketches! WOO!HOO! Here is the amazing sketch the fabulous Laura Whitaker provided to her design team to work with:

This sketch was so great to work with! I fell in love with it as soon as I saw it and knew I wanted to scrap pics of my daughter, Éloïse, using it. So, without any further adieu, here's my design:

TA-DA! ;) Tons and tons and tons and yes, more tons of My Mind's Eye's My Girl on this one (patterned papers and stickers) and Basic Grey's Knee Highs collection (patterned papers, stickers, chipboard and alphas), a Bo Bunny piece of scribbler paper, a few splats of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, stitching using my Tim Holtz stitching template/ruler and some DMC floss, and a few Making Memories staples. SO love how this one turned out - a sweet memory of our Éloïse's very first birthday!

Wanna see what the other design team members created with this sketch? Head on right over here. You won't be disappointed, I promise! And if you link your own design over on today's reveal over at Stuck?! Sketches using today's sketch, you'll get a few chances to win some awesome prizes - a stack of the winner's choice from DCWV and/or two spools of the winner's choice from May Arts! YAHOO!

Challenge YOUrself: Challenge #15 - Color Challenge with Affirmation

Hello, everyone! Today's the day for another reveal over at Challenge YOUrself, where we are all challenged to scrap photos of ourselves!! This month, CY blog owner, Lynn Lefebvre, challenged the design team with a bit of color. Here's the Fresh Hues color palette she chose:

Beautiful, eh? She also gave us an affirmation challenge - I am ____. So I started digging around for photos, found one of my son and me, and came up with this:

Yes, I am truly lucky. This photo was taken on Mother's Day 2011, and after having taken some more formal pics, this one is my fave because my son and I are doing something we both love to do - read together. And when I stamped the date on my layout, it made me realize that the photo is even more special as it was taken on the day my grandmother passed...

What do you see on this layout scrappywise? Fancy Pants patterned papers for the background and paper hearts, with some Pebbles patterned papers as accent pieces along with some American Crafts banner alphas and a title sticker. I also added some Queen & Co. washi tape, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze splats, American Crafts brads, Making Memories staples, Basic Grey alphas, Studio Calico wood veneer hearts, stitching using a Close to My Heart stitching template with some DMC metallic floss, Stampin' Up cardstock, and a piece of unknown baker's twine I receive as a gift ages ago. Some pieces were also inked with some Tim Holtz Distress Ink by Ranger. Oh! And I was also very much inspired by this JJ Sobey sketch - it's one of my all-time favourite sketches:

Want to see what the other Challenge YOUrself design team members came up with for this color challenge topped with an affirmation? Hop on right over here! And if you play along and link your own design based on these challenges onto today's reveal over at Challenge YOUrself, you'll get the chance to win an awesome prize. Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits: Guest Designer - February 1st sketch

Hello, everyone! Back again to show you another layout I recently designed using the January/February 2015 Boys Rule Scrapbook Kit. It's truly oh, so perfect for my layouts of my son, Louis-Olivier. This kit is sorta geared for winter layouts, but I've been scrapping a storm about our Summer vacation in 2011, so it works for everything! This time around, I used Laura Whitaker's Boys Rule February 1st sketch:

And here is what I designed:

Once again, I used tons of the kits on this one - We Are Memory Keepers and Bo Bunny patterned papers, Pink Paislee stars, Carta Bella arrow stickers, American Crafts and Authentique alphas, and baker's twine. The background is another piece of Creative Memories patterned paper (I know, eh?). I also added some splats of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze and a few American Crafts brads and cork stars. The journalling is written on a few strips of Stampin' Up cardstock. And those stitched circles? Yes, they are hand-stitched (I am THAT crazy!) using a Bazzill Basics stitching template and three colours of DMC floss.

My scrappy cave is calling... I think I'll go make another layout using this great kit! ;)

Happy scrapping!

Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits: Guest Designer!

Hello, everyone! I'm so happy to let you all know that I was recently asked to guest design for Boys Rule Scrapbook  Kits!! I was so totally stoked when the Boys Rule gals approached me to do this!! I've been a fan of theirs for quite some time now and have always loved the array of products that they put in their kits. Imagine when I received the awesome January/February 2015 kit in the mail and saw ALL this amazing scrappy yumminess:

Excited doesn't quite describe it, actually! It felt like Christmas morning all over again!! And for those of you who know me, you know how giddy I still get on Christmas Day or even my birthday. Hee!Hee! So, for my first Boys Rule layout, I decided to use Laura Whitaker's Boys Rule January 15th sketch as my starting point. Here it is:

And here is what I created:

Used tons of the Boys Rule kit on here - We R Memory Keepers and October Afternoon patterned papers, a Jillibean Soup Mini Placemat, a Carta Bella journalling sticker, a few Pink Paislee stars (that I inked with some Tim Holtz Ranger Distress Ink), some baker's twine, Authentique alphas, and that cork? I peeled it from some clothespins included in the kit. I also added some Creative Memories patterned paper, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, Studio Calico wood veneer stars, a piece of Creative Imaginations corrugated paper and some stitching using a Close to My Heart stitching template with some DMC floss.

Can't wait to scrap some more with this kit! There is SO much of it that I'll be able to do tons and tons of layouts with it for sure!! YAHOO!

Stuck?! Sketches: January 15th Sketch and Reveal

Can you believe that it's already the halfway mark in the month of January? WOAH! We've been tackling some not so fun stomach flus and cough and colds since the beginning of the new year, and I am totally up to set that aside and get some scrapping done! And today's the perfect day as it's another Stuck?! Sketches reveal! Here's the awesome sketch created by the amazing Laura Whitaker:

I flipped it around a few times and designed this:

This is such a special layout for me as it's of a pic of one of my dearest cousins. Not quite six months apart, we pretty much grew up together. We've seen each other through all kinds of situations! I really wanted to find products that conveyed our relationship. And the Basic Grey Plumeria collection was absolutely perfect! A bit worn, a tad girly. Just like Lynn and me. I also added a Cosmo Cricket Tiny Phrase, a Close to My Heart hinge, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, old cardboard I particularly loved due to its smaller than usual ridges (which I inked with some Ranger Distress Ink), a bit of stitching using one of my Bazzill Basics stitching templates and some DMS floss, and the chipboard title (also inked) that I remember receiving in a kit of a Trisha Ladouceur class I took ages and ages and ages ago.

Want to see what the other Stuck?! Sketches gals came up with today? Hop on right over here. And if you link your own design based on today's sketch to today's Stuck?! Sketches reveal, you'll get the chance to win some fabulous prizes - a $25 gift certificate for Creative Embellishments and/or a newly released product package of Linnie Blooms Mixed Media Products. Challenge YOUrself: Challenge #14 - One Little Word

Hi, everyone! Today is the day for a new challenge over at Challenge YOUrself, where we commit to scrap about ourselves. This month, it's all about that one little word. One Little Word was created by Ali Edwards and is defined as a word that you invite into your life and that you let speak to YOU. That's right, a word to focus on and reflect upon all throughout the year. There’s no right or wrong word. The main thing to remember is that it is YOUr word. And better yet, this month, we get to create a layout that celebrates that chosen word while including a photo of yourself in it! So, without further adieu, my chosen word for 2015 is TIME. And here is my layout:

I used a variety of stuff on this one - patterned papers by Glitz Designs, Crate Paper, Basic Grey, Bazzill Basics, and Fancy Pants, mesh by Magenta, alphas by American Crafts and My Mind's Eye, stitching using a Close to My Heart stitching template with DMC floss, banner stickers by Basic Grey, Tattered Angels Glimmer Glaze, Making Memories staples, used cardboard a scrappy friend of mine gave me ages ago (she was quite floored that I was still hanging on to it!), and those black circles? The caps you take off from the Wink of Stella glitter brushes! I sewed them right onto the paper!! FUN!!!

Want to see what the other Challenge YOUrself design team members chose as their words? Hop on right over here! And if you play along and link your own OLW design onto today's reveal over at Challenge YOUrself, you'll get the chance to win an awesome prize. WOO!HOO!

With that in mind, may 2015 bring TONS of time to me, to you and everyone in between!!

Happy scrapping!
